GovFresh, called the “TechCrunch for government,” features public servant innovators, civic entrepreneurs and the ideas and technology changing the way government works.
In 2011, GovFresh organized SFOpen 2011, the first major metropolitan open government mayoral forum, in San Francisco.
GovFresh helped start and organize CivicMeet, a monthly meetup that brings together public and private sector innovators working to create a more open, engaged civil society. The concept has been adopted in San Francisco, Vancouver, Sacramento and Palo Alto, Ca.
GovFresh worked with the founders of CityCamp to help to help make it an open source brand and serve as web host for a number of participating cities. CityCamp has since been adopted in cities around the world.
GovFresh was founded by Luke Fretwell in May 2009.
